I admit, its been a busy traveling June for
stuffing my face working…
Strolling through one of the many cool neighborhoods in Chicago, we decided to again take the advice of local Cleveland foodasauruses @Cleveland222 and @khwatts and Chicago munchas @lmuehara and SouthernMatt – and we headed to Lincoln Park for Del Seoul (@Del_Seoul).
Bustling sidewalk traffic keeps this place busy as the staff cranks out tons of local favorites.
Located at 2568 North Clark Street (daily from 11a-10p) – this easy access location is perfect for a quick bite or lunch on the go.
Lines are brisk and inside is brand spankin new.
Inside, you order your food and they table card you with flags.
Since it was a beautiful day in Chicago, we opted for the take out (Take Away for you across the pond fans).
Our peeps said to go for the gipper and try the Kimchee fries…twist my arm.
Kimchee Fries: French Fries topped with sautéed kimchi, onions and pork belly scallions, melted cheddar and jack, sour cream – $6.95
The fries were delicious but we wished they were more crispy. The pork belly was delicious and as you can see, the world is covered by the melted cheddar and jack as well as a healthy dose of sour cream.
Our line has mixed emotions on warm kimchee.
Cold will bring the texture and crisp out in the foods
Hot will bring the kimchee juice into the fries.
I guess the great debate for fries and toppings wage on.
Either way, we will be ordering these again.
Kalbi Tacos: BBQ beef short rib, cilantro-onion relish secret slaw and sesame – $2.50 each
Despite the LA sounding tacos, this was just OK. I prefer more crunch in my tacos esp since it says slaw. Also Kalbi needs to be shredded more. for cleaner easier bites.
Korean BBQ “Banh Mi” Sandwich – Spicy BBQ Chicken: Spicy Grilled Chicken w/ soy, garlic and Korean Chilis – $5.75
Chicken was well prepared, but my guess is the line didn’t have a Korean on the line. Like your Mom, I wish it was more spicy. Bread was great.
Korean BBQ “Banh Mi” Sandwich – Korean Ribeye Steak (bulgogi): Korean style ribeye steak w/ seet-soy, soju marinade – $5.95
Meat was seasoned well and the sandwich was meat heavy. NICE! We love how the bread soaks up the au jus from the bulgogi.
Korean BBQ “Banh Mi” Sandwich – Sesame-chili shrimp – Hand-battered panko shrimp, sesame-chili aioli, banh mi veg – $6.95
This reminded me of a LA PoBoy more than a Vietnamese Banh mi. Probably because of the heavy aioli.
BTW-Just because you add Japanese panko to your deep-frying of shrimp…doesn’t make this more Asian.
Either way, this my #2 pick because it reminded me of a shrimp PoBoy.
Korean BBQ “Banh Mi” Sandwich – Spicy BBQ Pork: Korean Gochujang marinade, Tangy sweet, smokey and grilled – $5.75
This should be their banner sandwich. as. it. was. freaking. delicious.
Lots of heat here in the gochujang (or kochujean sauce). Got the hint of sweet and smokey for sure. Grill marks? Damn straight!
Best part? It was stuffed to the max w/ delicious succulent pork.
Just unbutton your pants and order two.
Either way, Del Seoul will be on our Chicago list for great food and great location.

After a busy few weeks, we opted for a road trip to Chicago with our entire staff. And in our travels, on a recommendation from fellow foodies in Chicago, we opted for breakfast at Mhenry.
Located on Clark, this breakfast, brunch, and lunch place is located in
Mandersonville Andersonville in Chicago’s northside. Outside benches greeted us with lots of people…aka long wait. But I guess they knew of our celebrity status blog, so we were seated within 5 minutes. Bonus!
Check in desk is surrounded by a bakery with fresh-baked goodies emanating from the counter-of course I was drooling. Luckily the gal next to me admittedly was ogling the bakery fresh goodies too as we sipped on our warm coffees waiting. And no, I wasn’t drooling over her…
Upon seating, found that the restaurant was bustling for a Sunday brunch with great decor hanging from the ceiling.
The free-floating windows were pretty cool…but several of the patrons bumped it with their ba-dunka-dunks. Great entertainment for a Sunday brunch.
Service was quick and the coffee refills came fast…which included pouring coffee from 3 ft in the air. Entertainment with food? Of course!
Wait, did you say bacon? Give me the money shot!
Damn-how can you go wrong when you’re wrapping polenta in bacon?
M.Henry’s home comfort brunch plate: two eggs any style with salsa verde, served w/a butternut squash & applewood bacon crepe, and cranberry cognac chicken sausage, drizzled w/a red wine syrup – $11.75
I have yet to meet someone who grew up with butternut squash daily in their house. So maybe just potatoes. Also your salsa verde taster isn’t much appreciated – be bold. And if you’re going to place a “home comfort” plate on your menu, I suggest you reconsider and smother some gravy somewhere. Now that’s home! “Red wine syrup”? But why? Excuse me, can I have some maple syrup please?
Pardon while I daintly eat this with my pinky up.
Huevos borrachos (drunken eggs): two of our homemade masa tortillas topped w/ scrambled chorizo anc corn, avocado slices, chihuahua cheese, poached eggs, sour cream & a choice of ou homemade red adobo sauce served w/ mexicali rice and sweet plantains – $10.75.
Delicious! I also like how the red adobo creeps into the rice.
Fannie’s killer fried egg sandwich: toasted sour boule layered w/ two over-medium eggs, applewood bacon, slicked plum tomatoes, gorgonzola, & fresh thyme and served with house potatoes – $8.95.
First off, I love eggs – eggslut for sure. The fact that the two types of cheese mixed with the yolk, was just beautiful. The tomatoes were OK, but I kinda wished they roasted them slightly to give them a bit more sweet flavor.
Sourdough bread perfectly prepared and good choice in cheese too as it compliments the tomatoes and eggs.
The bads? No bacon. None. AAARRRUUUUGGGHHHH! WTF!
But I guess can overlook the bacon mishap since your eggs were cooked perfectly.
Ahem-let me share with you this sandwich’s virginity. First bite and squirt.

Overall, the service was great and the food was pretty dang good. Just BYOB (bacon).
And no, we’re still not passing up the Portuguese Sausage, eggs and rice.
