That’s right-this type of restie is our new favorite type of eating/drinking kinda place (Cleveland take note). It all started with Mac Mac, TracieMidori and Uncle Wes – all said that Izakaya was the awesome.
We thought they were dealing with their glaucoma issues, but apparently, they’re right – Izakaya is the shiznit.
Using Wikipedia as the answer to the world’s problems, izakaya means literally “to stay” and “sake shop”. Stay + #drinkydrinky = HAI!
And the first place we had a chance to check out an Izakaya place….Chizakaya in Chicago (Chicago + Izakaya = Chizakaya). Located at 3056 N Lincoln Ave this place is perfect anytime because of the $4 – Sapporo pints and $4 Kirin Ichiban pints all day-every day.
Confession: I love nasty bits. Nasty bits are commonly referred to the innards and the parts that no one wants to eat, I love them all: gizzards, skin, hearts, tongue, cheek, etc…Yes I said it…I love the nasty bits. Don’t you love the nasty bits too?!?!
If I was in Chicago right now…I’d be eating at @Chizakaya multiple times a week. Easily I’d vote this as MUST-EAT in Chicago.
Besides, who doesn’t want to eat Chicken gizzards, baby octopus, duck hearts, beef tongue, and chicken skin…I’m so in. As you know, @NoReservations loves the Nasty Bits too.

Cruising in Columbus, we found this relatively new progressive coffee-house called Zanzibar located at 740 E. Long St in Columbus, Ohio.
What the flock is a progressive coffee-house? Is that like a progressive stripper…aka nursing school student?
Oh yeah, their “Free WiFi” doesn’t work….FRAK!
Oh why not…it’s 12noon, rather empty coffee-house, and I wanted a sandwich.
Hi, I would like a Reuben please…sorry we’re out.
Um, I would like a BLT please…sorry we’re just out of bacon.
Maybe…..I would like a Chicken club wrap please…sorry it’ll be another 35 minutes before I have more chicken mix
Er, I would like a Big E please…we only have the smaller lunch special…but it comes with chips
The Big E: Oven roasted turkey and roast beef between whole wheat bread topped with provolone, cheddar loaded with red onions, mayo, lettuce, tomato and Dijon mustard.
Nice grill marks on the whole wheat bread.
I opted for the mexican version of Strawberry Crush since my food looked like a 3rd graders meal w/ plain Lay’s chips.
BTW-I don’t think the toothpicks are necessary cause those small sandwiches ain’t running away.
I see no provolone. Do you?
I see no roast beef. Do you?
I see no loaded red onions. Do you?
Basically, I don’t see myself eating here ever again. Do you?
Best part of the meal? Mexican Jarritos aka Strawberry Crush.
So–if you ever find yourself in Columbus, in the King Lincoln District, just drive away.

One week ago we were freezing our asses off in the cold hoping for a little morsel of food from Setis, Fahrenheit, Traveling Treats, UmamiMoto, Oh Babycakes, Jibaro and DimAndDenSum.
Our three biggest points to ponder:
1. Lines were too long
2. Extend the duration of event.
3. What entertainment? Next time put them closer.
Well, since there has been so many “colorful” commentaries already published about the Cleveland’s C-Town Chow Down (aka StreetEats) Food Truck meet up located in Lincoln Park (Tremont) – that we figured we would just post our pictures.
More importantly, there is already other ones setup for Sunday April 24th, 2011 and Sunday May 29th, 2011 and June 26th, 2011 - all from 11a-3p.
And I know they have a Logistics Division, Planning Division, and Operations Division already setup to coordinate the masses. So regardless of the weather and/or the lines - support your local restaurants and mobile food peeps!
